ENTRY PROCESS

Entries open Friday 24th November at 11:00 Cairns time and will close at 23:59 AEST 6th August 2024 unless sold out earlier.

Maximum entries are set at 100 runners for the 200 Miler and 100 runners for the 100 Miler for 2024. 

A waitlist will be put in place should the event sell out.

Any cancellation up until 30th April, 2024 will receive a 75% refund OR 100% rollover to the next year.  

Any cancellation from 1st May to 30th June, 2024 will receive a 25% refund OR a 75% rollover to the next year if there is no-one on the waitlist. If there is a waitlist, cancelled entries will receive a 50% refund OR a 75% rollover to the next year.  

Strictly no refund applies for cancellations after the 30th June, 2024. Entries cannot be transferred to another participant. 

Rollovers are limited to one per entry, once a rollover has been processed any future refunds are forfeit. 

All refunds and rollover requests must be emailed to registrations@ultraseries.com.au, any withdrawal notifications received via any other means will not be processed.

QUALIFICATION

We trust your own judgement of your abilities so if you are daring enough to consider entering, then you must be daring enough to enter!!!

AID STATIONS

There will 19 Aid Stations for the 200 Miler & 10 for the 100 Miler. All aid stations will be providing water, tailwind, coke, fruit and lollies, plus a menu selection of sweet and savoury meals, tea and coffee. 

Pacers CANNOT utilise aid station food (they can use the water) and they will need to re-supply themselves at the aid station by crew and/or runners drop bags. (Except at NO CREW aid stations if applicable)

CUT OFF TIMES

Cutoffs – note that runners must LEAVE the aid/sleep stations by this cutoff time. 

The 200 Miler event will have an overall cutoff time of 120hrs. Each Sleep Station will also have a cutoff time.  

Kuranda Sleep Station cutoff (128km point) = 40 hours  

Davies Creek Sleep Station -out leg cutoff (181.5km) =56 hours 

Tinaroo Sleep Station cutoff (225km) = 72 hours 

Davies Creek Sleep return leg cutoff (292.5km) = 101 hours = 16:00pm Saturday. 

200 Milers will need to finish the full distance in Cairns by 11:00 Sun 25th August (120hrs) 

The 100 Miler event will have an overall cutoff time of 60 hours.  

The Davies Creek Aid Station will have a cut off for both times runners pass through there.  

Davies Creek – out leg cutoff (53.5km point) = 15hrs at 10:00am on the Friday. 

Davies Creek – return leg cutoff (129km point) = 45hrs at 16:00pm on the Saturday. 

100 Milers will need to finish the full distance in Cairns by 07:00 Sun 25th August (60 hrs)

MANDATORY ITEMS

ALL RUNNERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO CARRY MANDATORY EQUIPMENT.

These will include:

o GPX file on watch or handheld gps
o Mobile Phone (with Event Ph Number saved into contacts)

o Mini First Aid Kit consisting of (full kit available as an add on with your entry):

  • 1 x Compression 7.5cm x 2.3m long 
  • 1 x Snake bandage 10cm x 10m long (stretched)
  • 6 x Wound closure strips 
  • 1 x Triangular bandage 
  • 2 x Non-stick wound dressing pads 
  • 1 x Pair surgical gloves 
  • 1 x Space blanket 

o Whistle
o Minimum 2.5L water
o 2 x Headlamps
o Hi vis vest to AS/NZ night use standards
o Spare batteries for headlamp(s) (or powerbank if rechargeable)
o Hat
o Seam sealed Waterproof jacket
o 8 x AAA Lithium batteries. (only 4 x AAA required for 100 miler runners)
o Emergency Plus App installed on your phone

  • Although not mandatory as will be at every aid station, a tube of additional sunscreen is highly recommended. 

VOLUNTEERS

The Unreasonable East is a logistical ultra in itself and the event relies on the help of a big team of volunteers to make it happen. If you would like to help out at the Unreasonable East, please fill in the form on the website. All volunteers will receive a Volunteer Tech Shirt and complimentary bbq at the finish line. You will also all receive a $400 Ultra Series voucher to utilise towards ANY Ultra Series event.
